The spuddie or walkie talkie is the earliest form of communication you may be able to use. You can switch between whichever version you prefer using the config.

Walkie Talkie Synchronization

You may have crafted a walkie or spuddie talkie and wonder how you're supposed to use it in the early-game without access to a radiosmithing station. The walkie talkies have a special power that allows them to synchronize their frequency and modulation with other nearby walkies. By simply dropping two or more walkie talkies next to eachother and waiting a few seconds, a visual cue will appear, indicating that they have synchronized with each other.
